Founded in 1957, by Jim Stewart and Estelle Axton (STewart/AXton = Stax),  Stax records has become over the years almost as synonymous with Soul music as Motown records and was home to classic artists such as Otis Redding, Booker T. and the MGs, the Staple Singers and Isaac Hayes.
